What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is both an ancient and a very modern simple, non-intrusive, complementary therapy involving gentle pressure on the reflex points of the soles of your feet. This action encourages the body to relax completely, enabling to heal itself. It may help to reduce stress, create deep relaxation and improve circulation, revitalising and rebalancing the whole system.

It does not take the place of medical advice but may compliment and work alongside medical care, especially problems which affect the whole body, a classic example being stress.

Reflexology is based on the principle that the areas of the feet known as reflexes represent a mini-map of the whole body, and relate to each body system, gland, and organ.  By massaging and applying pressure to the reflexes, the connected areas of the body benefit.  The purpose is to treat and balance the whole person rather than the symptoms and to encourage the body's own healing process, both mental and physical.

It is a wonderful treatment if you are experiencing problems with physical health, facing emotional challenges, or you just know that you need to spend more time looking after yourself. If you have been injured or ill, or are lacking energy, reflexology may help to restore balance and coax your body into healing itself.
